This is a best-effort estimate only. Actual cost depends on the actual circuits, wiring, and site conditions when PowerLah installs the meters.
How to use this calculator
Work through the calculator from top to bottom. The estimated cost updates each time you change an option.
- Electricity supply: choose three phase only if your property has a three-phase supply. Each phase needs its own sub meter.
- What to track: tick each area that needs a meter, then use the + and − buttons to set how many. Unticked areas are left out of the estimate.
- Property location: type a street, city, or postcode, or use your current location. If address search is unavailable, choose a region and enter the road distance from the nearest city centre instead.
- Self-install: tick this if you will arrange installation yourself. The estimate then covers the meters and shipping only.
- Distribution board and Wi-Fi: answer these to match your property. Choose No for Wi-Fi if there is no network, and PowerLah can supply a 4G router.
- Site survey: tick this if you want a technician to trace the cables and confirm the final price before installation.
Check the breakdown under the total to see what each line covers. A total shown as a range means one or more items depend on site conditions, so the final figure may change once our technician is able to inspect and confirm site conditions.
When you are happy with the estimate, use WhatsApp or email under the result to ask PowerLah to confirm it for your property.
Questions about the estimate
Why does the estimate show a price range?
The estimate is a range because certain work scope cannot be finalized until our technician inspects the property. Room rewiring and distribution board cable rearrangement each have a lowest and highest likely cost, because the cable routes, the condition of the existing wiring, and the distribution board layout are not known yet. Once these details are confirmed on site, PowerLah can give a final price.
Do I need a site survey?
When the calculator result is a fixed amount, a site survey is not required. If the result is a range, a site survey is required to confirm the final price. This can be done before the installation if you would like to know the final price beforehand, but incurs an additional fee. Otherwise, the inspection will be done during installation.
Why is self-install locked for Sabah and Sarawak?
PowerLah arranges installation in Peninsular Malaysia only. In Sabah and Sarawak, we ship the meters and you arrange installation locally. A self-install total is the meter hardware plus a flat shipping fee, with no installation, survey, or transportation charges. The shipping rate rises once an order goes above 6 meters.
How is the transportation charge worked out?
After you enter the property address, the calculator measures the straight-line distance to the nearest major city centre and estimates the road distance from it. That distance picks the transportation band automatically. Transportation is only charged for installations in Peninsular Malaysia.
How does a three-phase supply change the meter count?
Pick three-phase if the property has a three-phase supply. Each whole property then counts as three meters, one per phase. Each dual-key unit counts as two sub meters on single phase and four on three phase. Room, air-cond, and common-area meters still count once each. The total sets the install rate per meter, which drops at 3 to 4 meters and again at 5 or more.
What if the property has no Wi-Fi?
Sub meters send readings over Wi-Fi. If the property has no Wi-Fi, choose No and the calculator adds a 4G router, supplied and installed, plus a 5-year IoT SIM. These lines also apply to self-install totals.
